If you want to earn better winnings at your poker game, you have to know how to improve your game. Here are three ways you can learn to improve your poker game.

Watch others. By watching professional poker players, you can pick up of a lot of good techniques. These are basic things like learning what cards are worth playing and when you should fold out immediately. One of the best times to learn from the pros is during the World Series of Poker, an annual event when the best poker players come together. The entire series is televised.

Learn the odds. You need to be able to tell by looking at the cards on the table and the cards in your hand what the odds are that you will have the winning hand. While not all of poker is statistics, a whole lot of it is. You need to be able to know the likelihood of one of your opponents having a better hand. You can look up these odds, but a lot of this will come from practice and repetition.

Read Bets. In movies and TV, you will always hear about reading somebody’s bluff or finding their “tell.” In reality, this is extremely difficult for most players. The surest route to take is to learn to read bets. This means that you judge a bet based on the cards on the table and the size and confidence of your opponent’s bet. It will often take several hands before you can get a consistent and accurate reading of your opponent. It takes this long to begin to understand your opponent’s style—whether they are risk-takers or play conservatively.

By taking these tips into consideration, you will be on your way to a surer game.
